Quality control as part of the Rainforest Alliance certification
Products certified by the Rainforest Alliance stand for sustainable agriculture. For products to bear the green frog seal, there are strict requirements for the use of plant protection products, which require control analyses to demonstrate and ensure product quality. The Rainforest Alliance has published a Prohibited List that contains a strict ban on the use of the pesticides and agrochemicals listed here because, in the organization's view, they pose a major risk to human health and the environment, or they are largely banned or no longer manufactured. In the document Annex S7 Pesticide Management (version 1.2), updated in June 2021, the banned, outdated and risk-reducing pesticides are listed in tables. These substances must not be contained in the certified products. Regular pesticide analyses are therefore necessary for product control of RFA-labelled products.
